Personal project I decided to do myself in my spare time. Over the Garden Wall is an animated television miniseries created for Cartoon Network. The story features two half-brothers, Wirt and Gregory, who have become lost in a mysterious wood called The Unknown and attempt to find their way home. Wirt is a lover of poetry, and you can see that in his dialogues, which have more complex grammar, are more descriptive, and use more elaborated terms. His unique way of expressing himself is frequently characterized by the use of complex metaphors and a vocabulary of unusual words, which renders this series a work that demands a higher level of attention, research, and knowledge. You could also call it a musical because there are many episodes where the characters sing complicated lyrics full of metaphors and unusual grammatical structure. My job involved: • Translation of dialogues, signs, titles, and songs played in the show. • Applied research techniques to master source text terminology, minimizing translation inaccuracies. • Create subtitles according to standard professional subtitling guidelines, such as characters per second limits. • Conducted quality assurance checks and proofreading to identify and correct grammatical, spelling, and translation errors. • Synchronize subtitles with audio.
